Although it’s impossible to top a burger from Soda Jerks, today we will take a look at some variations of the classic hamburger from around the world.

Hamburguesas Mexicanas – Mexico

Mexico has its fair share of the typical burger chains, but so does every other country (we’re looking at you, McDonald’s). However, there is one burger that stands out above the rest and does its Mexican heritage proud. That burger is the hamburguesas mexicanas. This burger may look like your typical, American cheeseburger, but the traditional beef patty is topped with grilled ham and cheese. In addition to ham and cheese, each bite contains spicy jalapeños and creamy avocado.

Rice Burgers – East Asia

East Asia pays tribute to their country with the rice burger. Countries located in East Asia such as China, Vietnam, and Japan, have an abundance (no pun intended) of rice available, so it only makes sense that their take on the burger involves rice! This unique burger features rice patties instead of the traditional buns and grilled pork, strips of beef, and shrimp fritters as opposed to a beef patty.

Chicken or Vegetable Burgers – India

India has a large population of Hindus and Muslims, and because of religious prohibitions on certain foods, you won’t find many beef or pork patties. It’s important to cater to the masses, therefore it only makes sense that the most popular burgers in India are made of chicken or vegetables. There is even one variation of the burger that is made with a deep-fried potato patty and topped with mint chutney and green chilies. Talk about carb-tastic!

Bøfsandwich – Denmark

If you’re a big fan of onions on your burger, then Denmark is the place for you! The bøfsandwich has the traditional toppings that you’re accustomed to (ketchup and mustard), but instead of raw onions, Denmark gives you three different types of onions on your burger – raw, grilled, and crispy! You are more than welcome to enjoy your burger and all its oniony-goodness, but if you want even more toppings, different regions of Denmark will also offer pickles, remoulade and cabbage, or beets and gravy.

Heavily Topped Burgers – Australia and New Zealand

Some people love their burgers with as many toppings as they can hold. If you are one of those people, and you want to try something other than Soda Jerks, we suggest booking a trip to Australia or New Zealand.

The typical toppings for a burger are ketchup, mustard, lettuce, onions, pickles, and tomatoes. However, if you travel to Australia or New Zealand, the toppings don’t end there. If you order a burger with everything, or “the lot” as it is referred to in the aforementioned countries, then you will receive not only the typical toppings, but also a fried egg, bacon, pineapple, and sliced beets.

Japan

Japan’s burger doesn’t have a specific name, but it will definitely stand out. In Japan, you can order a burger with anything from the classic American burger toppings, to a burger with gigantic tongues sticking out of the bun, chocolate and mustard chicken burgers, or even emmental-topped gourmet truffle burgers. If you’re looking for a new burger experience that you’re sure to never forget, it sounds like Japan is the place to go.
